WE ARE HERE TO HELP
NEED HELP?
Find answers to the most common questions about Kinomi Auto Imports.
Start by submitting a request through our website or contacting us directly. Before accepting an order, we require a pre-sourcing phone call to understand your needs and budget. Once confirmed, we collect the $500 sourcing deposit and begin searching for your vehicle.
We provide regular updates and send potential vehicles through a group chat, where you can approve vehicles for inspection or purchase. Once a vehicle is selected, we collect the vehicle deposit covering the purchase, shipping, Japanese Sales Tax, and applicable Japan-side fees. We then handle maintenance, modifications, export, customs, and final delivery to your door, including the necessary title documents.

Importing a vehicle can take 1–6 months, depending on vehicle availability, demand, freight schedules, customs, and global trade conditions. While unforeseen delays can occur, approximately 90% of orders are completed within 4 months.
The customer is responsible for all costs associated with the import process, including but not limited to the vehicle, shipping, freight, documentation, customs, and other delivery expenses. Kinomi streamlines the process from start to finish by leveraging our established relationships with suppliers, mechanics, and logistics partners to make importing as simple and efficient as possible.
We have an office in Aichi, Japan, as well as one in Lafayette, Indiana. With our team on the ground in Japan and operations in the U.S., we bridge the gap between sourcing and delivery.
The Kinomi Import Request gives you the flexibility to personalize your vehicle before it arrives. Take advantage of Japan’s lower labor costs and favorable exchange rates for maintenance and modifications. We always recommend completing necessary maintenance in Japan, where you can often receive higher-quality work at a more affordable cost.
We are as flexible as you need us to be. If you want to purchase a vehicle that is not yet import-ready, we can store it in Japan until it becomes eligible for import. Whether you need paintwork, lowering, modifications, fabrication, or other custom work, we will find a shop that specializes in your needs. If you don’t see a service that fits your request, select the MADE FOR YOU option on the Import Request page of our website.
For Indiana residents and most midwest states, our on-site agents are able to facilitate unique requests such as maintenance and in-person meetings/appointments for Import Requests.
Yes, you can save significantly in the long term. Most Kei Trucks and JDM vehicles are imported with little to no maintenance or guarantees, leaving you responsible for the risk and cost of repairs after purchase. Our customers typically spend 900~1,500 USD on maintenance in Japan, often receiving the equivalent of approximately $5,000 USD worth of work in the U.S.
Because our service fees are flat-rate, you cover the wholesale costs of the vehicle, freight, customs, maintenance, and other associated expenses. For most Kei Trucks and Kei Vans, a budget of around $8,000 USD is typically sufficient, even with extensive maintenance. For specific requirements, rare vehicles, or exotics, budgets are determined on a case-by-case basis, as there is no single budget that can guarantee the purchase of a highly sought-after vehicle.
